An upstream approach to cement decarbonization
CURA Named to CEMEX Ventures’ Cleantech Construction Map 2026
CURA, the Canadian climate tech company developing electrochemical solutions to decarbonize cement production, has been named to the Cemex Ventures Cleantech Construction Map 2026, a curated list highlighting 20 of the most promising clean technologies helping decarbonize the built environment and advance a circular economy.
The Cleantech Construction Map, published by Cemex Ventures showcases breakthrough solutions across several key areas. The 2026 map reflects Cemex Ventures’ focus on identifying and advancing technologies that can reduce emissions and accelerate the transition to cleaner construction materials and processes.
CURA was recognized for its work to decarbonize cement production through electrochemical technology, and reduce emissions from one of the world’s hardest-to-abate industries. By rethinking how limestone is processed to manufacture Ordinary Portland Cement, the cement that the vast majority of builders use everyday, CURA is building a solution designed to dramatically reduce emissions.
“Cement decarbonization is one of the biggest challenges, and opportunities, in industrial climate innovation,” said Erin Bobicki, CEO and Co-founder, CURA. “CURA’s inclusion on this year’s Cleantech Construction map less than six months after we emerged from stealth, is especially meaningful validation of the work our team is doing to build practical, scalable solutions for a lower-carbon built environment, and how far we’ve come in such a short time.”
The Cleantech Construction Map is part of Cemex Ventures’ focus on connecting disruptive clean technologies with real-world construction and materials applications. As the construction industry works aggressively to cut carbon emissions, startups and leading construction companies are increasingly looking to develop and implement cleantech innovation.
CURA’s cement production aligns industrial performance with climate targets and recognition from CEMEX Ventures affirms the importance of deployable solutions to decarbonize materials that underpin modern infrastructure.
